Screen-Time Monitoring Plan — phone addiction is the silent score-killer.

A structured, parent-aware programme that helps students manage screen time during NEET and JEE preparation. Included with every Max Classes batch.

Why this exists

In 15 years of teaching, the single biggest change we have seen in how students study is the smartphone. A serious aspirant today doesn't just compete with other NEET / JEE aspirants — they compete with Instagram, YouTube, and group chats that are designed to win their attention.

Most coaching institutes either ignore this or pretend a "no phones in class" rule solves it. It doesn't. The damage is done at home, late at night, in the gap between a teacher saying "study chapter 7" and the student actually starting.

How the plan works

1. Baseline check at enrolment

When a student joins, we have a short conversation with both the student and at least one parent about current screen-time habits — apps used, daily screen time, sleep impact, and any specific concerns the parent has.

2. Daily study-hour check-ins

Students log their study hours and screen hours in a simple format that takes 30 seconds. This is not surveillance — it is self-awareness. The teacher reviews trends, not individual entries.

3. Weekly screen-time report to parents

Each week, the parent receives a one-page report: study hours vs screen hours, app usage trends (if shared), and any flags the teacher wants to raise. No drama, just data.

4. Monthly conversation with the student

A 15-minute one-on-one between the student and their subject mentor — what worked, what slipped, what to adjust next month. The student stays in the driver's seat; the teacher is a coach, not a cop.

5. Boundary-setting workshops for parents

Twice a year, we run short sessions for parents on how to talk to their child about phone time without it turning into a fight. These are open to all enrolled families.

What this is not

  • It is not a spyware app or hidden monitoring tool.
  • We do not read your child's messages or social media.
  • We do not punish students for high screen time — we surface it so the student and parent can act on it.
  • It is not optional drama — it is built into how we run a batch, because in 2026 it has to be.

What it actually changes

Parents tell us the biggest shift is at home — the conversation moves from "give me your phone" to "let's look at your week." Students stop hiding their phone time and start owning it. By the time we get to the final 4-month run-up, most students are voluntarily down to under 60 minutes of non-study screen time on weekdays.

FAQ

Is this included in the fees?

Yes. The Screen-Time Monitoring Plan is included with every classroom batch at no extra cost.

Can my child opt out?

The check-in and weekly reporting are non-negotiable for enrolled students. The boundary-setting workshops for parents are optional but encouraged.

What about students who do not have a smartphone?

The plan adapts — students without a personal smartphone follow a simpler version focused on study-hour logging and study-environment review.

Focus on the syllabus. Not the scroll.
